Success is contagious. Achieving small goals leads to more confidence, more success, and the ability to successfully complete larger, more important goals.

So how do you get started on that road? Most people define success as the accumulation of wealth. They measure their efforts relative to the achievements of others. This method will almost always lead to frustration and failure. There are always others who are bigger, stronger, wealthier, and better than you.

Don’t compare your efforts based on how well someone else has done. Just because so-and-so makes $$8,000 a month in his Internet business after only six months does not mean that you need to duplicate those numbers.

Develop your own measurements of success. Set numerous small goals and work on them one by one. Do not make your goal dependant upon the action of others. Do not set goals that are based on: 1. The number of sales this month. 2. The amount of money you will make. 3. The amount of traffic you will attract.

You do not have control of any of these situations. Instead, base you goals on things that YOU can achieve. More appropriate goals might be:

1. Write fifteen articles over the next week. 2. Post 10 replies on related forums today. 3. Write 250 words today for that new ebook you are working on. 4. Place 1 free ad a day for the next week. 5. Send out one JV proposal today.

These are all things that YOU control. But by achieving these small achievable goals, they will ultimately lead to more sales, more money, and more traffic.

And as you complete each of these goals, you will gain more self confidence and feel invigorated enough to set more challenging goals which will lead to even more success.
